Malta’s agricultural and food production sectors are set for a significant boost as a €10 million investment is poured into developing a new Farmers Market in Ta’ Qali.
Spanning 14,000 square meters, this ambitious project aims to create a dynamic marketplace where local farmers and artisans can sell their produce directly to the public.
The Malta Food Agency, overseeing the project, envisions the space as a cornerstone for promoting local agriculture and enhancing food sustainability.
The new market will offer a wide range of products, from fresh fruits and vegetables to meat, fish, and handmade goods, directly connecting producers with consumers.
This initiative seeks not only to support the livelihoods of local farmers but also to serve as a community hub for Maltese and Gozitan families to gather, explore local flavours, and engage with the agricultural roots of the islands.
Additionally, plans are in place for a dedicated area serving food prepared from local ingredients, providing visitors with an authentic taste of Malta’s rich culinary heritage.
The Farmers Market in Ta’ Qali is expected to become a key fixture in Malta’s agricultural landscape, fostering a closer bond between consumers and the people behind their food.
